A lukio student assembles three years of courses out of a catalogue that does not fit together: sections collide, subjects carry prerequisites, and the matriculation exams fix the date certain courses have to be finished by. Done by hand it is a spreadsheet, a highlighter and a lot of hoping.

The planner works from the real catalogue and searches for a plan that satisfies the hard constraints first: exam deadlines, prerequisites, and never two sections in the same slot. Then it optimises what is left over, from teacher and time-slot preferences to keeping the week as free of gaps as it can.

In beta with students at a lukio in Turku, with a wider rollout coming.
